Worth it or Throw it: Maybelline Fit Me review

Worth it or Throw it: Maybelline Fit Me review

Hi beauty junkies, I know that you already heard about this foundation and yes….

“Maybelline Fit Me Dewwy Foundation SPF 18”

it is dewy finishing, with SPF 18. Before we start the review, I need to tell you something that this article is part of FIT ME Challenge from Maybelline Indonesia team. They sent me the product for me to join the competition. The competition is about ‘who will make the best review’ with the price of 2.5 Million Indonesian rupiah, which is about SGD 230 ish and USD 170ish. I accept this challenge not because of the possible monetary reward, but because I have been planning to try this out. So I thought, might as well, right?

ABOUT

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation is a high coverage foundation. I don’t have to use concealer to hide my flaw skin such as dark under eyes and my post acne scar on my right jaw. It’s perfect but very tricky to use. Ideal for normal to dry skin, this foundation hydrates and smoothes skin texture and leaves a naturally luminous finish. Protects with SPF 18. Dermatologist tested. Allergy tested. Non-comedogenic. Fragrance-free.

I run 4 test while using the product.

1st test: I use 12 layers of skincare as you may already know. I waited around 45 minutes after the last skincare application. I apply a silicone primer. It seems like the foundation doesn’t want to blend perfectly.

2nd test: I use too much of the foundation by dotting it around my face, then dab it with my beauty blender. The result is pilling up my makeup look

3rd test: I use powder foundation and setting powder after blending the foundation. The result is cakey.

Final test: Waited 1 hour from my last skincare application, using water-based silicone. The result is perfect. I like how soft it is. It almost similar to Wet’n Wild Photo Focus Foundation.

My conclusion for the test is: I have dry skin, I need to wait for 1 hour after my last skincare application and use water base primer. If you ever have problems with your foundation, do try different method of application., you can try to look Thatalayaa. She is the foundation master and she gives so many informative from her content about makeup. I mostly get knowledge about the foundation from her. She tells me about Fit Me foundation and that drugstore foundation are not inferior to those high-end foundations.

What are the dupes for this foundation?

M.A.C Studio Waterweight SPF20 Foundation

Estee Lauder Double Wear Cushion Stick Foundation

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

Wet’n Wild Photo Focus Foundation

How to really use it?

To avoid cakey and pilling makeup look, try to wait 1 hour after your last skincare, then use the primer that you feel it is ‘holy grail’ for all your foundation. Dab your sponge before application, if you have a dry skin use setting spray in the sponge then put the foundation in a jar, take a small amount and blend it around your face. After that use setting powder, it is best if you use the smallest amount of powder around your face because this foundation gonna covers all of your skin already. It is better if you have no need to use setting powder around your face.

REVIEW

I love how the foundation turned out in my skin since I don’t really need to use too much of it. The only things that I dislike are the bottle packaging, which contains no applicator at all and I need to use the jar to apply, while other foundation I have droplet or pump applicator, to avoid taking too much of it. The cap needs to be rotated to use. There is an expiration date in the bottle packaging. The shades look a bit darker but it’s actually lighter than my skin, as I checked in the drugstore there is no shade that similar to my skin tone. the bottle is slim and quite heavy too. As promised the foundation really gives smooth finishing, even if I have post acne scar and dark under eyes. I don’t have to use my concealer or any other additional product to hide flawed. While claiming as a fragrance-free foundation (as per their official site), the fragrance is listed in the packaging.  You may check here. So much for the labeled of fragrance-free when it contains fragrance.

Performance: 5 out of 5
