USE IT or LOSE IT: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution review

One word for this Glycolic Acid – It’s fantastic. This is the product that I really love from DECIEM/The Ordinary skincare so far, the other product that I reviewed already on this blog either give my skin so-so or bad quality.

I purchased before he even has to be the star in media. I was testing the glycolic acid and it just way-way too good. Use it for about a month every night. It really exfoliates my skin. This product is much more than PIXI glow tonic. I love glycolic acid.

I can’t use this glycolic acid twice a day, therefore, I only use it during night time alongside with all my skincare sequence. This makes everything that I apply right after, absorbing quickly and I feel all my skincare products give the skin benefit. It’s felt like the intensity of the benefit increase by 4%. Totally worth the bucks.

Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin. This 7% toning solution offers mild exfoliation for improved skin radiance and visible clarity. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture with continued use.

This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time. The formula is further supported with inclusion of ginseng root and aloe vera for both visible radiance and soothing benefits.

Contraindications: This formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Please refer to additional sun protection note and other warnings in provided Directions.

This pH of this formula is approximately 3.6. Glycolic Acid has a pKa of 3.6 and pKa is the most important aspect to consider in formulating with acids. pKa implies acid availability. When pKa is close to pH, there is an ideal balance between salt and acidity, maximizing effectiveness of the acid and reducing irritation. Higher pH numbers in such a case would increase salt which counter-intuitively would make the formula even more irritating than if the formula was more acidic.

Note: While exfoliating acids can result in quick visible benefits, we generally suggest indirect forms of skin exfoliation in favour of direct forms such as this formula due to potential inflammation and sensitivity associated with acids. Please refer to NIOD’s Non-Acid Acid Precursor for such a reference.

Use ideally in the PM, no more frequently than once per day. After cleaning, saturate a cotton pad with the formula and sweep across face and neck. Avoid the eye contour and contact with eyes. Do not rinse off. Continue with additional skin treatments as needed. If persistent irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician. (Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards. Use only as directed. Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration.)

Really good, no break out and no other skin problem. My skin started to became dry because I don’t use according to the direction. Thinking it was okay to use twice a day, not blaming the product but myself. The product is really good.I can feel that my C serum and all my other skincare are absorbing into the deepest layer of my skin after I use this.

I always want to find a strong glycolic acid that is free form artificial fragrance, because PIXI Glow Tonic contained fragrance and not so strong. That’s when I try to do some research about glycolic acid, which one that I need to try on. Since I tight on budget. I picked Toning Solution from The Ordinary Skincare. Me, in other hands, has never had any knowledge about the owner taking Instagram and the racist thingy that he has been doing but trying out this product, I need to find a glycolic acid free from fragrance fast, that’s what I thought in my mind.

I have never said any good review of The Ordinary skincare if you ever read my skincare is either so-so or bad. However, this product allowed me to love my skin. However, I also screenshot a bad review that I found on their site. To allow you to have your own judgment whether you wanna buy this product or not. What’s the drawback of using this product?

Have you tried The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution? Spill your tea in the comment!
