Hey guys, welcome back to budget blogger edition again. I publish one day early (the update is on Friday). In case you wondering why? I’m flying again on Friday, you won’t receive any social media notification about budget blogger updates, because I’m on plane and I got 2 flight to take at that time.
I will be discussing logo, post signature, and media kit. The topic will be “Do I need all of the 3 elements for my blog?”. It’s important to develop the basic graphic design, as you planning to be a blogger. It will save more money to spend, and it’s also articulate your mind to be creative. If you keep your blog in long words, the readers will feel tired to read everything. By inserting some images from your creative mind, it will lead the blog readers to come back into your blog and you want that to happen since it’s the biggest investment for a blogger to keep loyal readers in the tab. They are also the one who will do ‘word-of-mouth’ marketing, by sharing your blog on their social media.
I will tell you one by one and you can judge fro, what I will explain below.
As much as you think this is not going to be so important for your blog, this is important. This work like a trademark for your blog business. In case you wondering, what is blog business? If you try to pursue your blogging into full time and become a full-fledged blogger by that means earning money from blogging. This is important, because people in the industry that you will have relations with, will want a logo. You will send an email with logo on it, you will send queries with the logo on it. It’s the important element to build the relationship by a trust. You will also send the media kit with logo on it.
If you enter a business class or seminar, the speaker will definitely tell you about design an uniqueness for a logo, it’s work like a handshake in real life. Most of the blogger that pursue blogging either as a hobby or as a full-time blogger, will always design their logo. You can design it on your smartphone or ask a graphic designer to design it for you. I will provide a graphic design service to you on the march, should you be interested in the design that I have. You can always view the notification by subscribing to this email list by filling it above form.
The logo is important and if you can design your own, it even better. Always strive for uniqueness by creating a subtitle. for example Feliccine – ‘Discover the Beauty world’, the part of Discover the beauty world is the short explanation about my blog. This attracts the interest of my readers who really keen on looking forward of to ‘whats inside beauty industry’.
Another example is ‘Gothamistha – Skinthuastically Yours’ – this explains that the blog is all about skincare, and the part where ‘Skin’ is in BOLD form, make it clearer.
You can always design it by words or by image or even draw. It’s up to you, you can imagine, what kind of logo you want.
For the logo design, you can purchase it from blog designer, it cost about up to $50.00, because some logo need to be print out, and some other are in 3D. My suggestion is you gotta purchased it from the trusted blog designer. You will also need to ask them about the copyright to avoid duplicate logo (please read more about copyright)
As for my current logo, This I design myself. You can ask me to design it for you. My logo cost from $0.99, depending on the elements and design.
For the post signature, I asked a blog designer, for designing my own post signature, since I still learning about graphic design at that time. This is not-so-important but it will really sure make your blog, looking pretty, because it placed after your article. I do it just because I like seeing it on another blog. That’s why I decided to use it post signature. Cost about $5.00 since I use a professional person to design it.
This is the most important element yet not-so-important anymore right now. Some bloggers design their media kit to be present to the brands when they want to look for a job, however since the brands have piles of media kit from bloggers all over the world and email from an influencer, therefore some brands decided to approach the blogger that seems fit to their brands. Despite having lots of followers or engagement, they prefer the creativity from the blogger: “Do the blogger can ‘speak’ their product?” So, they see your past project and the present portfolio that you will upload to social media and blog. Brands will again engage to your service when your work is brilliant in their eyes. It’s all about your work. Media kit only help you as a blogger resume, what you do as a blogger?
Each blogger has different kind of works, and approach their readers differently. They way their present a products or work is totally different from each other. That’s why you don’t have to worry and competing with other bloggers.
What’s the thing to put on media kit?
- Blog name,
- Blog subtitle,
- Social media and blog URL
- Analytics from social media and blog – which you already have when you set your Instagram to business profile and your blog have their own metrics to gather all the analytics information – this will be presented to the brands.
- Service – such as, doing the product review, write articles, commercial photography. Try to google and see other blogger media kit.
- Past and current clients or past work
You can use my media kit as an example, this I made during my early years of blogging. I hope this can helped you. If you need or assistance for the media kit, you can always ask me.
How shall I present it to the brands?
This is the part where you need to develop a good impression with the brands and the first impression is what will be necessary in order to have a sustainable relationship with the brands. This will makes you get into PR list, as many of you know how YouTubers always get PR packages. There are only 2 ways for this without giving you the impression as ‘annoying’ bloggers.
The first way is by putting it on your blog – place one section on the main page for the media kit.
Second, present it whenever a brand emails to you after works and ask them to keep it.
Never ever email the brands and send your media kit to ask for work or collaboration, when they don’t need it, they really don’t. Brands or Business have Pr team that will engage to the blogger that they feel matches to their vibes and when you are not being approached, simply means that either they don’t know you or you just not match to their vibes. That’s it!
You must avoid approaching brands with‘lusting and thirsty’ impression. there is lots of bloggers and influencer did that because their main vision is money. When they don’t earn money or get ignored by brands, they stop doing it and blame the brands with the ‘promises’ — brands simply change their mind without telling you. It’s similar to sending resume to work, you get yourself interview but you got rejected by no answer given from the company you applied for. Blogging will make you exposed more to rejection and silent treatment than sending work resume to the company.
Why? because some brands throw the word ‘sending you our packages’ and you never receive any. You simply cannot rely on those PR packages but your blog. Think those PR packages as rewards.
You don’t necessarily need it, it’s work as ‘new update’ for your blog, but other than that, you will still need to update your blog regularly and try to get more exposure and acknowledgment from the community. For me, the more I get PR packages, my readers will develop a mindset that my review is biased.
I guess that’s all for today discussion, if you have any question, you can ask in the comment box below.
Should you expect any update on Budget Blogger – I will not be updating any during Chinese New Year but AFTER. It’s good to have a day off, once in awhile. Away from blogging and social media. The Budget Blogger will resume as usual in the next week alongside with beauty review. I got lots to cover.
