Hi skincare lovers, Thank you for clicking this blog. This article will be a get-to-know section with occlusive. I was doing research and found out ‘new things’ about skincare. I love to learn about skincare and this blog is really useful median to share with you, what I’ve found. Do note that Occlusive is greasy and oily, it will block the pores and cause pimples. However, for this brand the formula comes without any greasiness.

To start with this article. I will first tell you that Dr. Jart + Ceramidin is occlusive and it’s come with an oil balm. There is 2 type of occlusive:

  1. petrolatum, or petroleum jelly. It is a byproduct of petroleum products and was first used as a cosmetic ingredient in the late 1800s. It is the most effective occlusive agent, capable of blocking 98% of water loss from the skin.

  2.  lanolin, zinc oxide, and silicones. Some oils, like castor, mineral, and jojoba oil, work as both emollients and occlusive agent.

Dr. Jart + Oil balm is the second type of occlusive because it’s contained ingredients, such as:

  • Brazil Nut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit Oil: Provide a moisturizing, softening effect.
  • Safflower Seed Oil, Silybum Marianum Seed Oil: Provide antioxidant and skin protectant benefits.
  • Patchouli Oil, Scented Geranium Oil, Sage Oil: Soothe and reduce redness.
  • Bergamot Fruit Oil: Controls excessive sebum and reduces the appearance of pore

Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Methyl Trimethicone, Polyethylene, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax, Hydrogenated Castor Oil Dimer Dilinoleate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Glyceryl Caprylate, Ceramide NP, Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Oil, Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Silybum Marianum Seed Oil, Tocopherol.

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Oil Balm is a multitasking oil that contains condensed ceramide and nine vegetable oils to provide intense hydration and protection. This do-it-all treatment addresses dry and dehydrated skin. The unique formula transforms from a balm into an easily-absorbed oil on contact. It then melts into skin for instant, moisture and creates a cera-barrier shield to protect and seal in hydration. Ceramides and plant oils nourish skin without greasiness. This balm is perfect for extra-dry patches or chapped, chafed areas and can be used on cuticles, elbows, nails, and hair to keep them looking and feeling nourished and revitalized. it is formulated WITHOUT Parabens and Sulfates

This product is free of these harmful ingredients: mineral oil, Phenoxyethanol, benzophenone, petrolatum, propylene glycol, triclosan, talc, artificial fragrance, and sulfate-based surfactant. This product has been thoroughly dermatologist tested by completing a skin irritation test and has been shown to be hypoallergenic. It is also cruelty-free.

This brand is from Korea and sells internationally. The reason I chose this brand as my first occlusive because I’ve seen so many people on social media and blogs using with the proof that this occlusive is really working to solve dry skin. Therefore, I was thinking ‘why don’t I give it a try too” adding occlusive into my skincare sequence probably will help my skin to supply moisturizer and helps to prevent my skin in wrinkling during early ages (I am 29 years old in 31 may this year).

Recent changes in Singapore weather is drying up my skin and I am a coffee drinker during the pre-period week that will cause me the feeling of tiredness and fatigue, that’s why I drink coffee at that time. Coffee will cause the skin to be dry and lot’s of pimples. If you happened to have pimples, check your snack and beverage before you jump to conclusion. What you eat will affect your skin and below area too.

The use of occlusive will give you some greasiness feels and pimples. Because, when you use the occlusive you will use your skincare product which is moisturizer before using the balm. it will block your pores, that’s why if you are not suffering from dry skin, you don’t need to use this one.

How did I use?

or

How I ‘slip it’ into my skincare sequence?

I will explain to you my skincare sequence day and night by numbering it. The first number is the first skincare that I use. Please note: the skincare sequence is only applicable for dry to very dry skin

DAY

  1. Facial Wash
  2. COQ10 toner
  3. Facial essence
  4. Moisturiser/Hydrating cream
  5. Occlusive
  6. Face oils
  7. SPF

NIGHT

  1. Facial Wash
  2. Glycolic Acid
  3. C serum
  4. B Hydration serum/ Hyaluronic Acid
  5. Facial essence
  6. Moisturiser/Hydrating cream
  7. Occlusive
  8. Face Oils

With that much of skincare products that I use, of course, I will get my skin blocked. However, when my skin is dry up like right now due to climate change, I have not suffered any kind of pimples even I use occlusive + coconut oils, which determine from any skincare expert or bloggers that coconut oils will cause pimples since it’s really comedogenic. I find out that probably because my skin is so dry and I was imagining that the water inside my skin is ’empty’. It needed to be filled, but every time I filled it with my skincare it dry up quickly right now due to climate change, so there are no single chances that the skin has time to produce oils or even causing pimples by blocking the skin pores.

With that, I keep using occlusive, face oils and every necessary skincare to prevent my skin dry. I even re-apply Cetaphil face and body moisturizer after all the skincare sequence. Cetaphil face and body cream have 1 ingredients called paraffin that will help retain moisturizer in the skin. The skin has a natural barrier that prevents moisture loss and helps keep the skin supple. Some individuals experience a weakening of this barrier due to genetic factors, aging of the skin, and damage from UV radiation and harsh weather. This is why paraffin in skincare ingredients is important for those who suffered from chronic dry skin, such as myself.

To tell you honestly, the things that I really need to pay attention is my wrinkles because dry skin creates wrinkles quickly in early ages than those who have oily skin. So, if you are oily skin people and you read this article. You should be thankful for having oily skin, meaning to say that your skin is always like baby skin.

HOW WAS IT?

So.. on and on, I talked about occlusive. Does this brand really worth to buy? Yes, it is. You can always share it with your family, especially your dad because men will suffer earlier as they get old than the woman since we will take care and use moisturizer, no matter how!

Men don’t and they often still use a facial wash that contains Sulfate. I recommend you to buy this and just hang it around in your skincare wardrobe. In case you need to use for any dry skin problem. It’s worth every single buck that you spend for this particular product. I love it and I use it every now and then.

Also, if you are living in 4 season countries, it best to keep this in your pocket, so you can use it everytime you need it. This also works best if you find your makeup to be cakey or the foundation clump in one area. Use this around the problem areas. It helps to heal and also solve the cakey.

The good things about this product are the packaging stated the expiration date.

Ratings: 5 out of 5. Love it!
